Not enough. I think locomotive horns will work better.

I inherited a bunch of military surplus stuff, amongst it is a pair of horns.

they are not too big, Painted, not chrome, look kinda like locomotive horns. Unbelievably loud

Poking an air nozzle into the inlet port when nobody is looking is always fun to see who has good bladder control.

TD, not completely true. I run a set of Leslie's, 3 chime (formerly found on UP and other line's passenger diesel's; 1 set I have is UP, other is Chicago NW) on a 3/8" line coming from the main tank, thru a ball valve. Good for burst up to about 20-25 seconds. They operate at 85 psi minimum, full 165 db at 100 psi. The large chime needs the 100 psi (4" bellows, trumpet is 24"L x 11.5" bell diameter). If u wanted to call down every cop within 5 miles I suppose a 5-10 gal. tank near the chimes would be best.

Know what u mean by watering eyes. When I got my 1st set it was cold and I had them in the garage sitting on a box aimed at the sheet metal sliding door. Hit them w/125# and couldn't hear for a day! Never Never again

That's pretty funny, I have a Grover Model 1024 sitting about ten feet away that I am going to add to the stock coach air horns...

I have a set of train horns for my 4905 but where to put them? I tryed them in my shop and they was loud made my brain itch.
When Im not playing with my bus Im playing with my train. The best bus airhorn is a train horn.

Grover goes back a long way and makes some very powerful air signals. Many of the old fire trucks were equipped with Grovers, along with boats. Buell also; makes a lot of marine horns that are very nice and have very distinctive and rich tones. A good horn from a Canadian registered highway tractor is also good, higher db level allowed, up to 135 I believe.

I have six Nathan Airchimes on the roof of my
Scienicruiser. They are 120 db @ 200 yards.
That is enough power in a pleasing chord of
D minor, to overcome any boombox or cell phone.
They are a little pricey, But it works for me.

I have heard Greg's (Bush) horns and I love them. Now...if I could only find my skin....as I jumped out of it and ran away when he sounded off.

:-)

Sweeeeeet horns......you'd swear that there was a train a comin'.

After I figure out how to get those Nathan chimes on my roof, I'm goin' to try to figure out how to stuff that 3408 in the back of my Eagle.

;-)

Hi Greg.

Since most ships can carry many dozen dinky little train locomotives ,

why not look at the REAL noisemakers?

This is the correct link for Kahlenberg. Lots of chimes on ebay from time to time. Eagle nut in NW has one installed on his bus. Sure is great for calling everybody in to dinner or whatever.

Nope, those 2 are weak. Maybe they need a garage door to give them "presence".

I have a brass train whistle. Not so loud as the horn, but very unique sound. For the occasion when I want to say it a little louder, I have Buel Trombones. It is the whistle I use frequently.
