Trying to find the manufacturer's GVWR and GCVWR on the 4106 (if they had such things back then). I know the actual weight but for several reasons looking for the above info. One is for Illinois driving licensing requirements - the Illinois "non-CDL" driving book is a bit? confusing on this issue. Illinois has several classed depending on GVWR up to 26K# exceptions if an "RV" but specifically what if over 26k# AND an RV?? When is a CDL required when vehicle is an RV (I have the Illinois requirements for an RV). |

Back then GM never had a plate or other listing to state GVW. Most folks use the Federal highway axle limits, as thats all you can drive with anyway. 12,000 for the front 20,000 on the rear lets you have a GVW of 32,000. Most 06 will be right at 20,000lb with seats out , and less when you scrap the air cond compressor, evaporator , and condenser. Also the "coach heat" with the two huge 80A blowers and radiator is pulled too, to allow for more room under. Keep the heat circ pump , and the drivers windshield blowers , that's usually enough heat for the front of the coach way below freezing. The conversion goodies will be 4,000 to 6,000 lbs , so you will still be able to have that big toolbox , and go over the Scales. FAST FRED |

The empty weight on a PD4106 according to a photo of a PD4106 that is on the cover of Motor Coach Age dated July-August 1993 which covers the history of Yellow Coach and GM Buses:Parlor Coaches,1939 to 1980. The photo is a new PD4106 and on the right hand heater compartment door it states Empty WT 20410 By the photo it looks like a non-lav coach that is new from GMC Truck & Coach Divison. Fast Fred is right and he should know.He has been there and done that! |

My 4104 in full load, tanks full, all the toys for a winter in warmer climes, 6V92, v730, and a lot of cultured marble and oak, is nearly 28,000lbs with What's Her Name and the two dogs. FWIW Jim Stacy |
