I keep an electic heater in the bus just to keep the chill off while it is not in use. I decided to warm the bus up fully today so I fired up the Webasto and went about my business. I came back later and fired up the engine (all nice and warm from the Webasto) and let it air up and run for a while. I shut the engine off, but left the Webasto on, and wandered off for a couple of hours. When I got back in the bus to turn things off, it was cold inside! I could hear the tornado sound from the back but no heat. I shut the Webasto down and went back to check on the heater. It was doing its "cool down" routine but blowing ice cold air out the stack (Rather than the normal steel melting blast). Looking under the bus I saw a small (palm sized) puddle of diesel on the ground. Any ideas on what happened here? Thanks, Craig |

Loose or broken fuel inlet line causing the leak and running it out of fuel? Have you looked to see where the fuel came from? --Geoff '82 RTS CA |

The Webasto isn't like any of the RV propane heaters, is it? With those, if you interrupt the power supply long enough while they're running, they'll commence "venting" the gas from the chamber... ie: the blower will continue to run (forever) to get the fuel out of the heater box, so you don't explode the thing if it get's powered up again overloaded with fuel... Turning the unit off usually resets the things..but with fuel oil, I would imagine you'd find raw fuel discharged someplace... |

JTN - now that you mention it, there was a breaker flipping episode where the bus is connected to shore power. Not sure how that would effect the heater, but my automatic transfer switches are not noted for their speed. Geoff - no, I didn't have a chance to take the cover off. I'll take a look at that possibility as well. Thanks for the ideas! Craig |
