I found my source in the yellow pages under plastic. First couple of people I talked 2 were not helpful - then I would as them where I could get sheets of acrylic plastic and they were really helpful. My $.02 worth.

Enjoying the journey in NC,

In your local Yellow pages, under plastics and acrylics. The freight costs with this type of product may make shopping the net impracticle. While not as fragile as glass, it must be handled with some special care. It may also be more economical to shop full sheets and make your own pieces as opposed to shopping for the specific pieces u want.

In our next episode of "Straight Eye For The Queer Guy", we'll rescue this poor dude what turned his *bus* of all things into a bad immitation of a brothel!

[Scene: two guys in a bus, one looking bashful, the other looking up in disgust.]

For fancy reflective acrylics, try Outwater Plastics.

Their web page probably does not show all the products. Ask for the catalog.

If you want a really lightweight and safe hanging mirror, make a reasonably strong frame of aluminum or wood and stretch some 6-10 mil aluminized mylar mirror material over it with double sided picture tape (that foam stuff) to hold it to the frame, and another layer of wood or metal and tape over that, screwed thru to really clamp the edges in place. Then use a propane radiant heater, the bigger the better, to shrink the mylar into a taut mirror. You have to heat the back side, not the mirrorized side or it won't work.

It's neat... the stuff wrinkles up and then smooths out as you heat it, and then it tightens up just like a drum head. You can work your way around and get every wrinkle out.
Then you'll have a giant mirror that weighs nothing, looks great, and won't kill you if it falls.
I used to make 4x8 foot projection mirrors like this. Super cheap, super quality and super easy.
Also would work good over all you guy's beds... :-)

Jim Robinson picked up the gold colored mirror we used in our living roomm ceiling in Elkhart. Surplus is almost always cheaper. We purchased 8 4'x8' sheets with damaged edges for less than the price of 1 new sheet. Jack

Look under "Plastics, sheet materials" in the yellow pages. Expect to buy it by the 4X8 sheet. You can pay a bit extra to get it cut into the size pieces you want. I priced material at about $85 a sheet and about $12 cutting charge for cutting it in multiple pieces.
