(For the truly paranoid) NEWTON, Texas and CLEARWATER, Fla., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Parliament Coach Corp., one of the leading manufacturers of Prevost Conversions, has partnered with Homeland Defense Vehicles LLC to create the first high-line motor coach that can protect occupants against nuclear radiation from dirty bombs, nuclear accidents, as well as, biological and chemical agents that might leak into the environment or that could be used by terrorists. The specially equipped custom coach will make its debut at the upcoming Tampa Super RV Show, Jan. 12 - 16, 2005, in Tampa, Fla. "Many people enjoy the RV lifestyle, but we also live in an era when people have some level of fear about terrorism," said Harvey Mitchell, chief executive officer of Parliament. "Often times, these concerns about terrorism are linked to states where people with RVs like to travel -- near ocean ports and border towns or other vacation hotspots. We think marketing a luxury coach with the ability to protect people from potential harm from terrorists will match a consumer demand." "The Office of Homeland Security has told the American people it is not a matter of if another terrorist attack will occur within our borders, but a matter of when," said Daniel Ayres, president of Homeland Defense Vehicles. "We market filtration systems that can protect vehicle occupants from a wide variety of environmental threats. We market these systems to emergency responders, and we see no reason why consumers shouldn't consider the same type of protection for their luxury coaches." Ayres also pointed out that coaches equipped with the special filtration system are also ideal for allergy sufferers. The filtration system can keep the motor coach as sterile as an operating room. "Some allergy sufferers can't travel, but with this type of coach, they can." The Prevost coach conversion equipped to protect against dirty bombs, biological or chemical agents costs more than $1 million for an entry-level coach. These units take approximately 12 weeks to manufacture. For more information, go to http://www.parliamentcoach.com/ . Homeland Defense Vehicles, based in Newton, Texas, markets filtration systems for specialty vehicles. These proprietary systems protect occupants against nuclear radiation, biological elements and biochemical agents that could enter the atmosphere through accidents or acts of terror. The company markets its systems to city and state governments and emergency response teams, and it is now making this technology available to consumers by installing these systems in trucks and luxury motor coaches. He he he, your tax dollars at work--again. Obviously an appropriate ABC type filture system is doable for the right amount of money... ....but would again only work against alpha and maybe beta particles. Gamma? Ha. Long ago FEMA was known to spend $100 bucks when they only needed to spend... ...$10.00. Seems nothing has changed. I just hope and pray that some very rich people DON'T end up very sick or dead... ...by being given a false sense of security where essentially there is none and should have just boogied instead... ...rather than staking their lives on some magic technology that can always fail. "Honey...please do NOT open that window! AUUUGGGHHHH!" Sorry. This is kinda a subject close to my heart as it used to be my job. Long ago and far away. Can I have some more wine now? |

When you own a "Prevo", you worry about things like that... and if your 60" plasma tv is going to get HDTV while rolling.. |

You hit it Henry! Wonder how much Homeland Security Money this outfit in Texas is getting out of this. This new Federal Dept. has to be the biggest, most out-of-control boondoggle in the entire history of this Nation. Sort of like a local situation where my local volunteer fire dept. rcvd. a $180,000 Homeland Security grant for a water tender truck that had already been paid for with local contributions (I among them)and a private grant from a private foundation. Don't mis-read me, I like the local volunteer fire dept., but seems that my eyebrows alone were raised over the Homeland Security grant, since it was not nearly publicized as the original fund raising to get the truck. |

That RV would be awsome, I would love one. I could stay in some really nice RV parks for free. I just would not want to go outside and start glowing. Of course if you are driving through a hot zone and you run out of fuel you are screwed. |

Ummm, honey, when you come back from plugging in the shore power and going thru the airlock, remember to scrub everywhere after removing your spacesuit and coming back through the bleach shower room...sure hope we don't lose power because without the positive pressure fans we're screwed... |

Nuclear Holocaust, do you really want to be around for what happens after that? I don't know if you read THE BOOK or not. I plan on being on the first group out of here (in a twinkling of an eye) and then come back 4.5 years later with Jesus and straighten out this world for the Last time. |

Jeez, an RV to make ol' Howard Hughes comfortable... You should have seen the air filtration system he had installed in at least one of his cars in the 50's... Only "a million for and entry level coach" Hey, based on some of the price tags for the rolling pallaces I've seen, sounds like a bargain! Brian |

That thing doesn't begin to meet my needs. Where's the armour plating, sidewinder missles, FLIR system, anti-tank systems, etc, etc, etc...,??? Come back to me when they can offer something a little more useful, geeez... Gillig-Dan |

Actually, some sort of urban excape vehicle designed to get from some urban area where one lives TO a well researched geographical area of the country where, with a lot of pre planning and just plain luck, one can survive--IS a good idea. However, since I am kinda crazy and love to watch all of those cheap, well made disaster movies, I vote for one of those surplus P4 airport crash trucks as a motorhome with all wheel drive, machine guns, rockets, heavy armor and.... a ABC filtration system. "Honey, there is a car blocking the road'! THUMP, BANG, CRASH'!! "Not anymore darling." "Oh, I hate scratching the bumper paint sooss early in the morning"! "It feels like victory"!!! He he he. ) Now can I have more wine? |

I saw that coach today at the Tampa RV show. The eqiipment takes up half a bay. The salesman said Parliment was approached by the Homeland Defense Corp and was allowed to install a system in one of their conversions. He wasn't impressed and neither was I. Just another thing to jack up the price of a conversion. The salesman & I agreed that if an attack occurred, you could just drive away from the threat before it could hurt you. It probably would help though, if you had a bad case of gas |

Build them more expensive, and they will come. Just watch how fast the big bus in-crowd line up to toss $$ at this idea. Behanged with practical ... they just want to have something more expensive than anyone else. Adds yet another level to their "bragging rights". Personally, I'm with the cut and run crowd. Will watch the crisis from far far away on my tiny TV. Realistically, I don't think my travel plans include being snuggled up to high value targets anyway. Will steer clear of big cities like DC, and NYC. |

No more wine for TWO WEEKS!!!??? AAAUUUUGHHHH!!! Or...one could do a whole lot of research and already be moved to a geographical location of the country where he would not have to cut and run to because he already lives there. But....would not that take some of the fun out of things by not having to boggie anywhere? Anyway, where I live now one would have no problem getting thru the war....just surviving the peace afterwards would be really difficult. Fifteeen years ago ABC filtures rated for 30 people for 30 days were about $7000 bucks each. Wonder how $much$ they cost today? Years ago FEMA wasted $millions$ developing a SMALLER, less capable filture. Yeah. Soos go figure. |

Did you guys hear Jay Leno on Friday? He was poking fun at the idea of the coach that can survive a terror attack. He said sure it will go through a terrorist attack but still blow over on the highway when a big truck passes it. |

I keep saying ABC when I mean NBC. Guess I'm getting my networks/filtures mixed up. See what happpens when you do not watch TV? |
