my mci9 with a 8v71 and ht 740 allison has 48 plate oil cooler. (24 plates for the engine, 24 plates for the allison)... mounted directly on the side of the engine block.... the allison transmission is connected to the oil cooler using 1" cloth-braid-covered, single wire rubber hose (like stratoflex)... same hose is used for the remote mount transmission oil filter....

Thanks Jim, yours sounds like a factory auto. I was woundering how people do it after removing a four speed and installing an auto . I have a 1971 05 Eagle.

you can make it just like the factory did.... buy a double-double 48 plate oil cooler from a dd/allison dealer and install it....cost about $1200... some people are using a Hayden air type oil cooler, then mounting the cooler with a fan or in an airflow somewhere...regardles you'll need the 1" single wire hose... about $20/ft.... i saw 1 conversion on an older eagle... greg askeys'... it had a heat exchanger type... water to oil... remote mounted just above the transmission....

Two Dogs I have two 4 speeds but I'm in Va. and don't know anyone trucking to Tx. I also don't know how much to ask for it since I haven't thought about selling it.

Bob,

What kind of shape is your motor and roadranger? I might be interested. Where are you located? I am in Indiana. Mostly interested in the roadranger for my mci-8

Rob
