Cory that was a great post with enough info to keep me busy for a few days.
Jack W, I liked the website, the price was good also. Thanks to both of you.

One of my concerns is being stuck in the left lane when I need to turn right or being stuck in the right lane and needing to turn left.

I hate to try to turn left out of the right lane and I hate to try to turn right out of the left lane.

With the proper navigation sys. you know in advance which lane is the turn lane you want.

I also want a rearview camera to see if the toad changed lanes and I didn't.

ED

I travel with the CoPilot 2000, soon to be updated to the CoPilot8.

I'm not saying for you to run out and get this one, I am saying for you to do your homework and get what you feel will best assist you in your travels.

Now, being stuck in the wrong lane when an interchange comes up is always a problem. the CoPilot has "helped" in this regard.
I am a nervous driver so I don't like interchanges anymore. some states are late in the signage and some are very poor at relating where you need to be to make the turn.

It helps if some other person can look at the interchange before you get there to see where you need to be. Some interchanges are so complex, it would be helpful to take 2dogs advice and map out the interchange to try to be inthe lane you need.

I absolutely hate being in heavy traffic and in the wrong lane.

BUT, if you miss the turn, the co-pilot will redirect you until you are back on course. Yes, I have used this redirction assist on a couple of occasions.

Of course I have also found that interchanges have had major changes made and the signage is WRONG WRONG WRONG. Sometimes the GPS will catch it, sometimes it can't. in this case you tell the GPS manufacturer and wait for the update, meanwhile, do your best on the routing.

I carry the atlas and the CoPilot but I find the Atlas us usually not needed as the CoPilot already had the map on the screen. Then again, there are other times the Atlas was helpful.

I understand there are many changes to the new version of CoPilot8 and one of theusers here has it. If you have any questions, you can ask but I see one of the sights spells it out pretty well.

Good luck, glad I could help

I have it.... Laptop 8...it is far superior to the older version and is full of information. One can set the distance for announcing turns, etc from as far as you want to as close as 100 feet, as I recall.

Nice program....pricey, but if one travels to unfamiliar territory on a regular basis, it will pay dividends in peace of mind. Upgrades are usually around $100 and from my point of view, well worth the price. If, for instance, you are on the road all the time, that is pretty cheap information....for several years worth of travel.

FWIW :-)
