Hello suspension fans! Who knows what about replacing the stock double doughnut air bellows in the MCI's with the rolling lobe style? Mine is an MC8. Has anyone successfully cut down the pylons to install bigger ones, or???? Space issues? geometry issues? Someone doing it for a price? Curious about the cost-benefit in preparation for some preventive maintenance, and partially considering an upgrade because I'm tired of all that banging from plated-off beams while thundering up and down the more poorly maintained highways on the continent. happy coaching! buswarrior |

I replaced my rear air bags, which were plated when I purchased the bus. Simple job-remove old bag, install new one and change airline from old plates to new rolling lobe airbags. I have not changed front bags yet, plan to that this summer (My front air beams are still functional). I purchased my rolling lobe bags from Jim Ashworth, but they are available from Mohawk Industries. Not only did the new bags make a big difference in ride quality, but I gained about 1 1/2" of lift when using my leveling system. Jack |

MCI sells a kit for the front and rear that replaces the plates, air bags, and the bolts and ride hight bracket for $745.00. They faxed me all the instructions and there is no cutting. Just replacement of parts. The MCI Tech Line Phone # is 1-800-241-2947. I'll be changing mine out soon on my 1981 MCI9 Steve. |
