Last week a fellow 04 owner had a front wheel drivers side blow out. Which damaged the air systems locking the brakes. This happend on a two lane road, when the police arrived they called in three tow trucks two to get him out of the way and one roll back to move him to the shop. Unfortunately the tow trucks hooked on front and back lifted up and moved him on to the roll back.Dont ask me why. He got help at the shop, repaired the air lines and took off the next day for a 7 hour trip. The water temp going down the road hit 220 he stopped checked. The tow trucks When lifting the rear end had broken the drivers side engine cradel arm that drops from the roof down to the engine cradle. This dropped the engine 4", tore the hose, he lost water. It put everthing in a bind. He got a strap put a new hose on and lifted the cradle back in position and drove 6 hours to Houston. Where he had a new support made and installed. I understand these supports have drain plugs. Have you checked that yours are free to drain and not rust? Boy arent these old 04,s built. They can still take a licking and keep on ticking. John |

Make sure your friend has the Tow Co pay the bill! All Tow Co's carry great coverage. If they are a great Co they will step upto the plate and pain the bill. First hand experiance. |

He found out tonight he has water in the oil. Probably blew a head gasket when the hose came off and he lost water. Do the tow companies really have insurance for this type of problem? John |

Any damage the tow co caused or indirectly caused they are responsible for. He needs to call the owner of the tow co and voice his concerns. Also if its part of a tow club they may step upto the plate as well. You stated that the police called the trucks out. I don't remember but the pd as well may be responsible or be able to help because they certify the co's that are on there rotation. So if you make to much of a stink to the city the co could lose there spot on the pd's call list. The co I worked for in Grants Pass, Or always stepped upto the plate. |

Towing companies are responsible for any damage they cause. They presented themselves as professionals capable of doing the job (without damage) and charged you for it. The question I have concerns the extent of their liability...Who is responsible for the road worthiness of a vehicle before it is put in service? And would a normal and proper pre-trip inspection have revealed the damage caused by the towing and potential problems it eventually caused? Good luck with the '04! |

"Do the tow companies really have insurance for this type of problem?" They'd better! Good luck getting them to pay, though. |

My friend with the 4104, has now found his axle is loose. Probably broke the U-Bolts when lifting and pulling. I talked with mistro Luke who recomends he get to a local spring and frame shop and have them made up. fastest and least expensive. Thank you Luke.. John |
