Wondering if the California guys, who are used to the prices in their area, think this may be a good deal?

1984 MCI MC9,Heavy duty cooling, sedan door, never a greyhound or NJ coach. No restroom (from factory). 5 speed auto allison, 6V92 Turbo. Full service and D.O.T. inspection 2800 miles ago. New King pins, tag axel brakes, bushings, right front wheel bearings, halogen lights, drag link, air filter, fuel filters, etc. Starts right up, not a smoker. Driven FL to CA - no problems, Not an oil burner, Runs very strong. Temp-rock steady. Tires - Front +80%, drive axel +40%, tags marginal. Most seating removed, ready for RV conversion. A/C needs service. Registered as RV. Very nice, straight. Asking $9600.
If it sounds good to you guys, I may have to find someone to check it out for me.

Not bad.....all depends on alot of factors......#1 being engine and coach milage.

that would be at the upper end for a MC-9 without a fresh rebuild for me

Not bad... But take it to a bus garage for inspection,
a "friend" can only give you an opinion.

That is a good price for around here, but still definitely have it checked out by a good bus garage as John said. Remember, that is his ASKING price. No restroom to remove- that's a good thing. Seats are out- another good thing. They are a pain. I would be curious to see how many miles on engine/trans. You might want to call HB Industries, San Diego, Bob Rowsell (619) 561-9048. Maybe H3 Jim will know someone else too, he lives in or near San Diego. Best of luck Tim! Bob

Tim,

Being the "proud" owner of 2 MCI-9s, and having stripped out the interior of both, please have someone that knows busses, especially MCIs, take a look.

Now that they're down to their "skeletons" I have a good idea what big things internally causes the little things externally I didn't notice or felt insignificant at purchase . I little "pimple" I ignored is now prompting me to remove that portion of the external skin and replace it.

You'd also be well advised to spend a bunch of time on the "work in progress" portion of Gumpydog's site. www.gumpydog.com.

If you can't find someone suitable, I'll be in San Diego on January 31st and would be happy to take a look in exchange for an In-n-Out burger and a beer! LOL!! (not!)

Onward and Upward
