These days it is kind of nice just having stuff shipped to you instead of driving all over the place to get what you need. In this case, I was surfing the internet for ROTELLA 40W T (past threads left me thinking that if I can get straight 40 I might as well use it). This address takes you to a place for Rotella T 40 http://www.shipstore.com/ss/html/SLL/SLL40FG.html Is it what I want for my DD 8V71? Is it a good price? I guess shipping is about $15 for me per 5 gal. I haven't found a place yet in SE Wisconsin for the above. Thanks and have a great day. |

Their price works out to over $11/gallon, plus shipping. Last case of Chevron Delo 100 that I bought cost me a little over $6/gallon, and I picked it up locally. Rotella T straight 40wt is fine for your 8V. Have you used the locators on the company websites to find a dealer near you? Hoo boy. 40w CF2 is 40w CF2 and when the MC9s were made, SAE 30 or 40 was good enough.. why buy Rotella when you can buy generic (with a "service severe" rating)? Nice chart: http://www.lubrizol.com/ReadyReference/EngineOils/6-OilClasses/lzCclass.asp#SectionCF-2 http://www.advanceautoparts.com/english/youcan/html/ccr/ccr20010101ov.html http://www.maintenanceworld.com/Articles/thibault/HowToRead.htm Multigrade? Delo 100 can be had in the Seattle area for between $6.80 and $7.00 a gallon, depending on if you buy it in quarts, gallons, 5 gallon buckets or 55 gallon drums. Given the value of the oil and how much it weighs, having it shipped to you via UPS is not going to be cost effective unless you find a mail-order supplier who practically gives it away. Most of those who claim this oil "isn't available" in their area haven't actually ASKED about it, but rather look on the shelves at Walmart and don't see it there, therefore assume it isn't available. It is widely available almost anywhere in the country. You may have to special order it from a distributor, but it is available. In SE Wisconsin, it's probably on the shelf at most any decent sized feed store. In coastal areas most marine supply places also keep it on the shelf. |

AlL the DD in TN carry it and most tractor supply. In Alabama I have found it at DD shops and some Farm supply stores.. Mississippi I have found it at SHELL distributors, DD shops, A few marinas and Farm supply stores. Your areas should have some sort similar to these. I have never paid more then 8.00 a gallon for 40wt cf2. Lowest I found was 89cents a quart once in North Carolina. |
