Just grazing the internet looking at coaches for sale when this appeared as a feature on a prevost coach. "2 roof mount a/c, 100 gallon fresh water, 100 gallon grey, 40 gallon black, the black tank is still hooked up like an entertainer coach which has a air dump to dump on the highway. Bus has bus heat/air, has inverter that can run". |

The Classic GMC motorhome '73-'78 (and number of high end M/H's) had an optional "Thermosan"(sp??) unit - which would put the contains of the waste (mixed black and gray) thru a macerator and then pipe it along the tailpipe to heat the waste and then inject into the exhaust gas stream - It had a sensor that would make sure the exhaust was hot enough to "sanitize" the slurry - plus a number of other requirements before the unit would function - still I would hate to be the guy following that H/M |

I wonder if he meant that the dump was for the gray tank, I have heard of people doing that, but definately not the black tank. Think of the mess all under the vehicle, let alone the mess on the road........ Yukkkk!!!! Peter. |

Naww..... it's an "entertainer coach". They use the remote dump to empty the black tank when they go over bridges. I though everyone knew that..... |

Entertainer coaches generally have right (curb) side dumps for both gray and black that are often operable from the dash. These are nominally for dumping in bus garages, which are outfitted for curb-side dumping and have large dump orifices (buses are dumped directly over the dump orifice, with no hose such as those used for RVs). Many high-end coaches have bus-type dump valves on the curb side, and rv-type valves with 3" hose attachments on the driver side. You may be aware that a driver for Dave Mathews Band was recently cited for dumping his black tank on a grate-deck bridge over the Chicago River, an incident that might have gone unnoticed except for the fact that a tour boat happened to be traversing under the bridge at that exact moment. (Best not to dwell on this image too long.) So it would appear that, at least sometimes, entertainer drivers are using these valves in an unlawful manner. All that being said, it is unlawful in several states for an RV to have dump controls where they can be operated from inside the coach underway. Also, many states require that a solid cap be in place over the dump port at all times while the vehicle is being operated on a highway. My own coach, which was never an entertainer, had switches on the dash to dump the gray by air valve, and macerate and dump the black electrically. These switches were referred to by the previous maintainer as "pavement painters". (When we rebuilt the coach, we went with standard Valterra manual valves, 3" for both gray and black, with a separate 3" gate downstream to facilitate flushing the black tank with gray water.) -Sean |

Another possibility is that the guy meant that his dump valve is operated by air. I have an Owens dump valve for which there is a $100. kit to turn it to air controled. |
