I went to start my bus today to go get tires put on. it fired up for a few short minutes kind of galoping then quit. I pulled the filters off and the primary was full but the secondary was nearly empty. I filled it and replaced it gave it some John Deere Juice and it would not fire again. I was told it was air locked and to remove the plug in the filter block and hook up a pressurized fuel can to it and restart it. but I can't get the plug out. it is a 1/4" square that will take a 1/4" drive ratchet but I broke a ratchet and a 3/8" to 1/4" reducer trying to remove it I have someone coming out in the AM too look at it. any advice?

Do you have access to a vacuum pump such as a Mityvac. Pull a return line connection and pump a vacuum in the system and spin the motor until diesel gets through the system.

Or put an electric pump in a loop in the feed line from the fuel tank and a non-return valve or use ball valves to switch the pump in or out of the original circuit. Handy in case you run out of fuel again.

Some have used a garden pressure sprayer to pressurise the fuel system, but they would be using the port you can't access.

Peter.

If the pipe plug you want to use is frozen, just take off the inlet fuel line on that filter base and use that opening to prime your engine. When you are done, simply put the line and fitting back on.

Got the motor running today only took 10 minutes.
there was a valve on the other filter block pumped her up then she purred like a kitten. But on the way to get fuel it started loosing power and finaly quit. the secondary filter was empty again. this happened 3 more time before I could get to the diesel shop. I bought a new check valve and he's going to install it and check for fuel blockage. Wish me luck

don't see how a check valve will fix it...you have an air leak in your fuel line

if the primary stays full and the secondary empties out, you have a bad hose/line/fitting somewhere between the primary filter base and the secondary filter base.. lots of places for it to suck air....several hoses, fittings, a fuel transfer pump....

Mine did a similar trick. I had a bad line from the secondary to the rack. It would lose power as you decribed and then die.
