What I mean is, I need to be able to figure out a tank size in inches (heightxweightxlength) and figure out gallons of water inside from that. |

(height x weight x length) / 231 = gallons In other words, there are 231 cubic inches in a gallon. Hope this is what you were looking for. Kyle |

Ya'know, I shouldn't post so early. Yes it is width not weight! I really need to proof read my posts a little better! BTW, 1 gallon of water weighs about 8.34 lbs Kyle (apparently reading impaired :^) |

Ah. OK, so if I've settled on a bed size of 38"x80", and the tank is exactly that size and a foot tall, I've got 157 gallons on board. Just under a foot and a half, I can hit 200. Kewl! Check out the custom water tanks these guys do: http://www.all-rite.com/ |

Yesa boss....length times width times height in inches divided by 231 gives you U.S. gallongs in capacity. But....be sures you figure the INSIDE size and not the outside...plus allow at least a 10% fudge factor... ....for water and holding and at LEAST a 15% fudge factor for gasoline or diesel fuel. Besides that, go for it. |

Two Dogs...this is true...only I am afraid it is even worse that we know...with all the fudge factors...PLUS INSIDE holding tank designs..it is possible...all the fudge will hit the fan. Auh fudge!! |

No, FRESH water under the bed, not the Democratic party platform. And yeah, fudge factor is a good thing. ------------- It occurs to me that if All-rite is building the tank out of 3/8ths inch polyethelyne sheet, you could have 'em do one that's double-thickness on the walls and top panel and with the side walls rising up 4" or so past the level of the top plate. What you've got then is more than a water tank: it's the bed frame itself! Seriously, size it 1.5" bigger in length & width than the matress size you're planning, and you don't need to build a bed frame over the tank. That IS the bed frame. |

Good one, esp. covering cylinders. Those are sometimes found for way cheap. 7'x2' is 164gal. Which might be possible behind the rear axle of that Crown Postal... |
