I have a 4104 with what looks like factory sun roofs. I am considering using one for access to a roof lounge. What could I do for a watertite hatch door? |

Look in your Granger catalog. They used to sell a weatherproof hatch for getting up on the roof in warehouses. Its all aluminum and has a rubber seal all around the door. Size is 24z24 as I recall. Might come in smaller, I don't know. Good Luck, Doug Woodin, Bunnell, Fl. |

Most RV parts suppliers should be able to supply you with an escape hatch which can double as a wind up roof vent. The one I have is opaque and allows some light through. Peter. |

FIND a marine store or catalogue , West marine.com or defender industries .com,, or west is in CA and defender is in CT with 800# and free catalogues. The RV folks will have anything you want , if it 14X14 there std. size. The marine fellows will have any size you need up to 30X30 and bigger. The price isn't low in most marine places , but the quality is great!! After you get a catalog or two call the mfg. or Bomar or importer and ask if they have a second, explain for RV roof , so a scratch in plexiglass wont matter as much. If you can get to the Dania FL flea market in April , this , and very pricy marine stuff gets sold cheap. I purchased a 24X24 hatch for my 4106 for only $40. Screens are easy to make or buy. If you find a late model 4905 / H8H in a junkyard, they had an escape hatch where the third skylight was. They are pretty heavy. Should work well. If you can find one. Steve Fessenden |

In addition to FAST FRED's suggestions for marine equipment may I recommend the paper "Boats & Harbors" P.O. Drawer 647 Crossville, TN 38557-0647 931.484.6100 It is similar to "Rock & Dirt" and makes for interesting reading, if nothing else. It's where I found engine rebuild kits at the best price. Ted. |
