I am interested in finding a working front electronic destination board (or side) working with the little box for light programming.

I had talked to a gent a year or so ago and I tried to get a price from him. he insisted I make an offer. I have no idea of value, more or less scrap to me, I offered plus shipping, and never heard from him again. Sorry, whoever, I wasn't really being cheap, just didn't know better.

That aside, I still have an interest if such is available. Mine from the RTS did not have the control box and was frozen in time with the old destination showing.

This is not a life shattering desire, it is an interest so if none is out there, its ok, thanks for looking anyway.

BTW, HOW DO THEY PROGRAM THOSE THINGS ANYWAY?

Here is a long shot. A while back a guy on the yahoo RTS board was talking about some RTS buses being sold at an online auction in AZ that were basically scrap. Some of them may have had a sign in them. IIRC they sold for around $300. You might check with yahoo board and maybe somebody can give you one.

Believe it or not, there is a group called "Destinators" that collect and play with those things, they could probably help you a lot. I can send you a link if you are interested, and if someone has scrapped their destination sign, you can sell it here too. I sold my roll type for some real bucks.

If you can locate the manufacturer's name, it'd be easier....

Some time ago there was discussion about using generic electronic scrolling units, but most agreed they were not suitable for various reasons. Today I ran across a 12v one I had never seen before that would work well in a coach, could even be mounted inside any window, and is not expensive. Programming is done with a remote. It's much smaller than a factory sign, but a lot cheaper too. I found it interesting even though the site offers little in the way of information.

Now that would be neat to mount on the back of the bus, Could say things like "Kiss my toad, kiss your money goodbye" "Danger woman driving this bus stops iratickly" "Toot your horn if you love Bush" just about any kind of nutty saying you wanted

Thats cool Chuck...
I just saw DISNEY has a new kind of sign on their buses, it uses what seems to be a really bright LED... I think I'll do some more research, but thats cool, thanks
