What buses are these trans used in? I got a Maintance manual and a Troubleshooting manual from ebay and since have learned that few oldies use them! My guess is that they are not vastly different from the V730 except for the electronic control so I may get some use out of them.

Also, the books show a PTO as standard equipment. What is a pto on a bus used for?

The manuals show maxinput HP/Torque as 262/815 and a gross weight of 40,000lbs. That is not much hp/torque when compared to todays big diesels?

You are right when you said that they are the same as the V730 except for the electronic valve body. The PTO is used to run an air conditioning compressor. About the largest engine you can use with the V730 or V731 is a 6V92TA which produces 277 HP or the 8V71 rated at 254 HP. They are in wide use in transit coaches and are only used in the "V" type drive train. Hope this helps you to understand them a little better. If you have no use for the troubleshooting manual I would be interested in buying it from you. You can email me about it. Bill
