the bus has been sitting for a couple of months without a start up. can you trickle charge the batteries with a twelve volt charger or do you need a twenty four volt? where would you find that if you needed it?

David,

If you have one battery you will need a 24 VDC unit, If you have two 12 VDC you can just charge one at a time with the 12V trickle charger.

Have Fun!

Another opinion?

Once depleted, it's best to charge one 12v at a time, until each
are fully charged.

The alternator or generator will not charge the weakened battery
in series, once it "sees" the 24 (28) volt it requires to stop charging.
The weakened battery may remain weakened... before eventually
failing completely.
