Here are two classic examples of a style of bus interior decor that personally makes me want to scream, laugh and throw up, not necessarily in that order: http://www.busforsale.com/palmer/index.htm http://www.busforsale.com/the_gambler/index.htm Note the massive overkill in the “glitter department”. Note the criminally excessive number of mirrors. Note the...well hell, you get the idea. Godawful. OK, so assuming others might feel the same way (NOT about the expense, but about the revolting taste!) let's see who can come up with the best descriptions of this "style": "A high-speed collision between a Greyhound and Elton John’s dressing room." "Queer Eye For The Bus Guy!" "Like Donald Trump tried to build a rolling brothel." "Looks like Liberace's coffin blew up in an Ikea."

The first one looks like a waiting room at a dentist's office. The second looks like the operating room. |

I think they both look like a dentist office. Not very home like. I have saw nicer interior on some 10k coaches. Brian 4905 Klamath Falls Oregon |

Well, the interior might be a little glitzy, but I sure like the exterior. |

Yes, the exterior is great, not too much to convert there. I dunno, both look kinda like a tunnel. The trick is to make them look comfortable without looking like a train is coming through. Thats the trick cd |

In the days before we purchased our bus, we made a couple trips to the local casino to talk to tour bus drivers about drivability and maintenance issues for the 102A series we were interested in. Interestingly, one of the drivers who wanted to talk the most had driven almost all bus makes in 25 years, but she currently was driving the MCI E series you see in the photo. She put me in the driver seat, opened the bays, and was very candid. She said this model had 5 computers running everything from climate control to air bag control. Most of the dash area was plastic. MCI went to the cheaper pod type gauges like in a car or pickup. I noticed some of them were not scaled, just showed high-low range. The gauge pod was covered with clear plastic that reflected the sun light. She said much of her day time driving she could not see the gauges. They were having problems with poor connectors in the various control panels. Then she showed me the cracks in the lower corners of the windshields. Her tour company had a number of the E series and all had these cracks. Apartently the twisting forces in the body are too much for these large windows. I like the renaissance look and the series 60 mill, but the new buses are like new cars -- cheaper construction to stay competitive, with excessive technology to break down. |

Chuck, I wonder that the cracks are due to windshield installation/mounting method, rather than absolute stiffness of the chassis as a whole? Stiffness comes at a much higher "expense" than simple strenght, although increasing the latter almost always improves the former. BTW, I don't have an arugment with your observation about cheaper construction practices - just making an observation about the possible cause of the windshield cracking. Onward and Upward |

Not as bad as expected, seen a whole lot worse. I do like the web site and all the other buses for sale. Kinda gives a look at the other side. I noticed in Arcadia a couple of years ago that all the entertainer rigs had almost no air flow from outside(no opening ports) and had that musty A/C smell in them (mold). Still like the older rigs, lots more style to me. |

Well, since the original post asked for a name for the style... I have a couple different suggestions.... "Vanity" "Hollywood" "Puked Glass" "Shards at the Crashdown" "Mass of Glass" "Glitzed" "Barefoot Draft" "Realistic Style Impaired" (aka RSI) "Functional Nothingness" "Not At Walmart" (aka N@W) "Elitist Showboat" "Kamping No-How" I could go on for hours writing these... hehe -Mac |

I like both of them. If I were a rich rock star who needs to impress groupies I would get either of those. I really don't see why you guys are bothering to knock them at all. I'm sure if the owner looked at pictures of your busses he'd say, "Oh, how quaint." Some people really don't want a home on wheels, they want to get out and party and live big. They don't go to camp grounds, they could care less. That's no reason to put them down. Hey, at this point I'd be glad to have any interior at all, after 2 years of working. |

Those aren't even close to the worst examples I've seen browsing around. But still...all that "chrome, glitter and mirrors for miles" look just looks TACKY, I don't care how much money you've got. |

Hey Chris, I am with you. If I had the money I would have a 1.5 million Marathon Prevost as well as a 15 million 150 ft super yacht. Me thinks they protest too much and are just jealous. Richard |

If I had my choice I would live in a bus with vinyl walls and floors that I could hose down. The reality is my wife likes to ride in a bus she can be proud of and is not ashamed to bring people into. So we have mirrors, fancy lights, dainty fabrics and a decor that is one notch below that of an expensive whore house, and I like it. |

If $$$ were no object, I would have a Neoplan Skyliner. It was 2000 when I started searching for a bus....a school bus. I met Wulf Ward in Chicago who was kind enuff to spend a few hours showing me & my girl his collecton. He had a Skyliner in mid construction, a completed Eagle and a lot full of Hertz RTS buses. I instantly lost interest in skoolies. Anyway, the point I was going to make is that glitzy conversions are not exclusive to Prevost. One of the worst I have ever seen was in an MCI 4500. There was so much glitter in there, looked like MC Hammer exploded inside. Huggy Bear would say "nice bus but a little to busy for me". This thing looked like a cheesy strip club inside ...and these people full-timed in this thing. So many mirrors I actually had a touch of vertigo while inside. I'm used to being looked down on with my Fishie but I love it and that is all that counts. There was no way I would try and convert a $10,000 shell on the first try. I paid $1500 for my bus...excuse me, COACH. I have spent that much in one nite at a cheesy strip club! Vin 73 GMC T6H4523A Proud |

"looked like MC Hammer exploded inside"... "You can't touch this...'cuz if you do you'd leave fingerprints on any possible surface! Exactly. And yeah, it's ain't a "Prevost thing" so much as an incredibly vain and bad taste thing... Some high-end stick'n'staple jobs have tried to duplicate this "look". Sigh. |

YUCK.....dont like it one bit,but to each their own. Some folks say I am crazy for prefering a dog nosed skoolie over a pre fab motorhome,or any other type of bus for that matter. IMO pre fab RV's look like cheap hotel rooms.~ Pix |

Yep, slick looking on the outside. However, the older I get, the less mirrors I want to walk in front of. You know what I mean. I'd hate to sit on the stool and see the reflection of the side of my ass. Ugh. scarry you know. David Anderson |
