I'm ready to make a one piece door for my eagle 10 and need some ideas and assistance. Can anyone walk me through this or give me an idea where I can find directions for building this myself or possibly purchasing one. It seems as though it could be very difficult to get it to fit. Thanks Bob |

There are others that can tell it clearer, but, basicly you take the two frames & weld them together ,then get a GOOD piano hinge for it to swing on ,then reskin with a piece of new skin..can I have you hinges / swing arms ...I love the air door...what other 'house' has an automatic air opener...I feel like....ROAYALTY |

I took the skin off and the glass out of the two original pieces. While the rubber seal was still in the door opening, I used C-clamps to secure the two sections into place, being careful to leave the same amount of play all the way around and the outside curve matching on bottom and top. Once the two pieces were securely in place, I was bale to measure and cut channel iron to weld into the space between them. I was careful to get the surface of the channel flush with the existing door parts. Especially above the aluminum skin. After welding and grinding, I applied bondo liberally, sanded & formed, etc. I waited until I brought the bus in for paint and had them paint the new door at the same time. I ordered a piano type hinge and aluminum panels from International bus parts. The panels came pre-cut to almost the exact size. There was very little trimming. Do the hinge from bottom to where the door begins to curve back. There is a slight bend on the lower door, but not enough to bind up the hinge. Some photos here |
