As you all know I posted a thread about getting ripped off by someone I purchased an alternater from, and his rude remarks after the transaction. well after fixing the noise problem (thanks to luke) the alternator still does not work. after spending over $200.00 for the alternator, $70.00 for a gear plus shipping charges labor to have it removed and replaced 3 times. as you can see I'm $500.00 in the hole and still without an alternater. My sugestion and request is that any body selling anything on this board must be registered and if they screw any of the fellow busnuts they should be banned from using this board.It may seem harsh but honest people won't have to worry about that. and the comfort zone of purchasing something from the board will be much higher. There's another gentelman with 3 gm alternators for sale, do I dare take another chance? I buy no means am a wealthy man and can't keep giving money to crooks. My only recourse for buying from this board will be you ship me the part if it works I will pay you if it doesn't you get it back shipping collect. That should make any body think twice about trying to rip me off. | ||

I guess it happens sometimes, but it is definitely the exception. I have sold many items on this board, and of course with the understanding if you don't like it just send it back and get a refund. That only happened only once, and I even ate the shipping costs. Several times, I even requested no money until the prospective buyer looked it over and approved of it. My buying experiences have been quite the same, but of course I usually "knew" the person from long time association with the board. | ||

i agree with don... i sold some hand-held infrared theremometers on this board.... even traded 1...and i got paid... had 1 unhappy customer... he expected me to ship instantly... while his check "was in the mail"...i waited on his check, then waited for it to clear...if i had "known' him beforehand, i'd probably have shipped, ... but i guess what i'm trying to say is, talk... communicate... on the phone beforehand... before any purchase you feel iffy about.... | ||

Who's gonna play Sherriff/Judge/Mediator? I@n? Naah. You want to form a committee to resolve disputes? Don't think this approach will work, and you can't run the board for the exceptions. Sorry this happened to you. I even bought a few things from ol' brown booties, and he didn't treat me too bad. ;) | ||

Doubt seriously that Capt. Ron is a whiner....but rather offering a suggestion to an otherwise pretty pristine source ( this board) Doesn't seem out of line to me to make folks aware of possible problem areas....and helpful comments. Of course, it's always buyer beware, but seems prudent that some decourm is maintained....to the extent possible. One reason I personally feel that annonymous or otherwise unidentified posts should not be "posted"....just my .....opinion. FWIW | ||

Perhaps when you are interested in purchasing something, you can ask the board if anyone has delt with them before. If they are a rip/off, they will Pi__ and Moan, if not, they will certainly understand and probably joke about it as well. It seems as simple as that. cd | ||

I think it's an out of line question...why make I@N be moderator of a bunch of complaints...I like captain crybaby...but he has been whineing about everything:,rust,two transmissions,TWO alternators,....ease-up...what are ya' tryin' to do nag us to death... | ||
