Others will chime in with recommendations for consumer programs to do this, but if you just want to get it done, send it to me and I'll do it for you and send it back so you can post it. I"ve not needed to put video on a site - it's probably just a matter of putting it on your server, but don't know for sure. |

IF you want to learn to do this yourself, by far the best of the free image "tweaker" programs short of a full drawing package is Irfanview: http://www.irfanview.com/ You can shrink images several ways: by "cropping" to trim out excess material, or by using the "Save As" command to tweak settings such as "quality" - until you know what you're doing, stick with the JPEG and GIF formats. Also experiment with the "color depth" command under the "image" menu. There's a LOT more this puppy can do, and it contains zero "evil content" such as keyloggers/spyware/adware. Truly a neat little critter, a favorite of geeks everywhere. Only safety tip needed: download it ONLY from the various download links and mirrors from those sites, as they're all trustworthy (Tucows, etc.). Others might have an altered or faked copy. Downloading Windows code off the 'net isn't 100% safe unless you're careful about such matters. |

Aaack, Ron, I forgot that I hid my address. cyol att bigfoot dott com I agree with Jim that irfanview is great, but it is not a consumer-friendly application. But knock yourself if you want to! Here's a safe place to get it if you want. http://www.download.com/IrfanView/3000-2192_4-10335353.html?tag=lst-0-1 |

It's not...THAT hairy . As long as you stick with a few of the basic functions. Sucker can do a WHOLE lot. |

Look, copy the file first and then tweak the hell out of the copy. If you goof up, who cares? |

I just did it in Roxio 5 but my program keeps freezing up and won't save the changed file. I'm gonna try it in photo suite in my old lap top. |

If you're using a Windows machine, the included Kodak Imaging software can be used to resize images. |

Looks like the still pic has been answered. As for the video. if you're running Windows, you can download Windows Media Encoder for free. It'll convert most filetypes... avi, mpg, etc. to highly-compressed wmv that's very Web-friendly and much more universal than any of the Divx stuff. If you're just needing to upload the MP4 file, already edited, just use and FTP client (there's some good freeware versions of these... just Google it). You'll have to know the codec it was encoded in (Divx, 3ivx, etc.) and provide a link so others can see it. If you need to edit video on-the-cheap, Windows Movie Maker is free. Not to tout all M$ products, but the price is right. For a little more moulah, Adobe's Premiere Elements is really nice. I'm a semi-pro vid. editor, so I'd be happy to help you get your vid online if you need some help. Brian |

Thanks Brian, I guess the only way for mpeg4 stuff is by streaming and you have to put it on someone elses server and it looks like it could get costly so I'll probably just update my video's page and replace with new ones there. |

Your Capt. Ron website has vids on it. Just host it there as a WMV, no streaming server(s) necessary. Brian |
