We need a good way to bend the tubing for the curves on the Eagle. Someplace, somewhere, I ran across a pic of a homemade gizmo that was used to bend the square tubing. Unfortunately, it's either saved to my hard drive, in TN, or is saved to a CD, also in TN, and I'm in NC. Thanks for the help.

Present your request to Sojourner, He made a bending fixture to change the roof bow attachment to the walls. The device is presently at Jack Conrad's house in Arcadia. I understand that Jerry will be in Fla soon.

Is it similar to a round tubing polka?

Lorna,

Keep in mind, there's more to it than readily meets the eye from a picture. It's used with a hydraulic press or jack. I think the devise grabs the square tube and rolls or drags it around the radius. IIRC both inside and outside sides of the tubing cross-section [square] deform so it doesn't present the same surface as the hat sections used by MCI for their roof bows, or by a bending machine that used an inner mandrel to preserve cross-section, for example.

Note I said the same "surface" - it's quite workable but I wanted you to be aware up front cuz if you were planning on riveting in the curved area it could present problems.

After Jerry bent the 1 1/2" square tubing for the new roof bows, he welded a piece of 16 gauge by 4" flat stock to the top of the new bows. Rivets will be attached trough this flat stock using buck rivets.
Jerry has not arrived back in Arcadia yet. Not sure when he is coming down. Jack
