I have exausted all my limited resources trying to find a board similiar to this that addresses the small rental equipment business. There must be hundreds or maybe thousands of equipment and tool rental stores thruout the country, but I have been unable to locate even one board. Anybody happen to have run across one? Thanks, and my apologies to I@N for wasting some of his valuable space.

Possible there may not be any boards. Try going to the local rent-it-all place and talk to the owner and see if he has any info that may help you. Good luck.

I have to agree with Sean. There are literally millions of items of interest on the internet. Thousands and thousands (and lots more) of items of interest to anybody human, and hundreds and hundreds of items of interest to busnuts.

Think what it would be like if everybody that reads the board would post only one item that they think would be of interest to the other readers of the board that was not bus related. We would have literally hundreds of posts covering a very wide range of topics and the board would then be a human interest board instead of a busnuts board.

My vote is that I@N wipe posts like this out immediately and if someone insists on continuing to post non bus related topics, then that person would be banned from posting at all.

even if it stated non bus related ,why would it not be bus related as all of us at one time or another while working on our buses have had to go find a tool or piece of equipment that we do not own and have to rent it , borrow it , or go out and buy it if one can be found, and i think that this is a good post that i have never seen before and would like to see some good answers to the question. thanks richard. mel 4104

FWIW ain't worth much.

Richard has given much great advice on this board and his post was clearly marked off subject. No you wouldn't want 10 of those every day, but I certainly don't think that kind of topic is overused. It would be good if the poster used a more descriptive title though, like "Off Topic: BBS/Board for rental equipment?"

I think that Richard can do whatever he wants! He's earned it.

Henry,

If memory serves, Richard *is* the owner of his local rent-all place...

"FWIW" -- my comments in the tsunami post, and Richard's reponse to them, are taken way out of context here.

I have no problem with off-topic posts here when they are legitimate requests for information, made here because this group has a very good chance of insight into the subject matter.

So, for example, posts like "I know this if off-topic, but I'm working on an airplane and I thought the group might know where to find a machine shop to make custom threaded rods" seem perfectly appropriate to me (so long as the subject line is clear about OT), whereas posts like "I'm working on an airplane and I thought everyone would like to see it, here's a link" seem inappropriate to me.

It's a fuzzy line, and requires a certain amount of judgement. I think Richard was clear and humble in his approach to this topic -- it's really unfair to take his other remarks out of context and fling them back at him like this.

Just my $0.02...

If the user is gonna complain about off topics then come back and post them him self then he should not complain.

Btw I am seeking information on locating and purchasing pallets of returns. If anyone has every purchased them let me know. This is the ideal forum what anything that anyone wants to ask about anything.

As an ebay powerseller this was one of those places I never got to check out. They sure have a lot of returns by the skid load and seemed real nice on the phone. It was about 850 miles from me, so we never checked it out. If you do go there please, let me know how good the deals are on their returns.
