How hot should a block heater get the water on a DD 671? How long shold it take to get there? (outside temp at 40 degree's F) Thanks in advance, Mike |

Where you install the heater makes all the difference. I first installed mine between the fitting behind the fuel pump and a fitting on the water manifold. This gooked good but did not work. The hot water made the thermostats open and the water circulated through the radiator. The block stayed cool. Then I reworked it so that the heater was below the lip of the oil pan, the inlet was from the plug on the inlet elbow that is bolted to the oil cooler, and the outlet went to the fitting behind the fuel pump. This looked ugly but works great. The 2000 watt heater heats up the block in about 2 hours at 28 degrees (no wind). I used shut off valves at the block in case a hose fails. Jim-Bob |

Yes, it was sold last night. I just got back from delivering it to Baton Rouge. That was the longest drive I had taken the bus and it performed flawlessly. I had most of the kinks worked out... it was time to sell it at a loss. After we get settled in here we are going to start looking for one to convert ourselves. Mike |
