My shift cable is starting to get tight. I took off the cable at the trans and the shift tower and it still was hard to shift. I followed the cable from front to back and no kinks. Is the any good way to get lube in the cable to free it up. Years ago I used a cable grease tool that clamped on my motor cycle cables to grease them. Is there jumbo industrial type for a bus?

Pull the cable out, soak it in diesel for several hours. Then take a wire brush and clean the cable by brushing at an angle. When you put it back DO NOT USE LOTS OF GREASE OR OIL. A little will do the trick. I used the Royal Purple sythetic liquid wrench type. I had to attach a pair of vice grips and pull like mad to get mine out. I have even heard of some people attaching a tow car and pulling it out.
Good luck,
John
