We are planning a family trip with the 4104, and would like to try the TN mountains. However, after last years trip to the Highlands, NC, with its high grade roads, I'm hoping to get a little elevation without risking life and limb. Any suggestions on campgrounds at or near the smokies or cherokee that aren't too crowded or difficult to reach? Thanks, JT4104 |

I lived in Franklin, NC from '65 to '88. My parents still live there. The Franklin/Highlands Road is FUN! Stay off Hwy 64 between Ducktown & Ocoee TN. Nicest Park we've visited near us (Near Chattanooga) is Fall Creek Falls State Park Resort. If you watched the live action remake of the Jungle Book (Disney) then you saw Fall Creek Falls. They have nice sites, good water pressure, clean bath houses and lots of stuff to do. (I24W to Jasper/Whitwell/Hwy 28 Exit 155 to Hwy 111 at Dunlap, then turn right onto 284). There is a GA gas station on I24 at the Wildwood exit 168 that has GA priced gas. For prices and other TN state parks you can go to www.tnstateparks.com. The roads to Fall Creek Falls are pretty good and not too terribly steep. The mountains over here are different than the Nantahala Mtns. We live on top of one..It's FLAT on TOP! Weird, huh. You won't find many parks that are easy to get to and aren't crowded. FCF doesn't get too crowded. Good Luck Lorna Whitwell, TN |
