My 4104 will shift into first, second and third but once in third it stays in third. moving the shift lever into fourth doesn't take it out of third. I have to go back to the trans. and manually move the 3d-4th fork to neutral. then i can get it back into first and second. i assume its a linkage problem but where do i look first and how do i access the linkage??

Hi Bob
Put the gear shift lever in neutrol. Use some WD40 on the shift levers at the transmission and remove the cotterpins and pins that hold the clevises and shift levers together. Place the shift levers in neutrol and adjust the clevises to line up with the shift levers ,by screwing them in or out not by moving the rods the clevis are scewed onto. After the pins and cotterpins are in place, follow the rods behind the engine where they go through the bulkhead. there is a long pipe that runs to the bottom of the bulkhead. On this pipe end is a grease zerk to lube all of the bearing in the bellcranks for the shift rods. You can,t lube those too much.
Good Luck
