Would like to know from all that have done this, the colums you used, and some specifics in regard to parts needed, shaft modifications, etc.

TIA, Jack

Hi Jack. I used a tilt / telescope, column out of a NaviStar 9200 (1996). I also use the shaft, to the steering box and the boot that when through the firewall on the truck.

All I had to do was to cut the spline off the old shaft and shorten the shaft that came with the truck column and machine and weld the spline (I cut off the old shaft) on the truck shaft. God there has to be a better way to xplain this. Anyway I could then put the U-joint on that attached to the bus steering box.

The spline has to have a spigot machine on the end that will attach to the shaft and a machined bore in the shaft, with a tight fit, each end (the shaft and the spline) have to be machined for weld prep, V groove, and the U-joints have to be lined up before welding.

If you require a CAD drawing for this procedure email off line.
