You can do full power steering which is best, or you can use air assist steering which helps most at negligible speeds when you need it most, but it is known to give you some extra play in the wheel that you might not like.

I have full sheppard power steering in my 1961 fishbowl. It took some effort but love the difference. It takes virtually no effort to turn the bus. Would recommend it to anyone without power steering. You may want to check this board for a person out of Toronto who has mentioned them crushing several fishbowls with power steering.

I went with Tilt/telescoping wheel as well and the air seat.

You will need a Sheppard 492 power steering box. Get a good one as they can not be adjusted only rebuilt. You also need a Vickers pump, resevoir, about 45' of 1/2" hydraulic hose for the return line and about 45' of two wire hydraulic hose for the pressure line. I used a curved radius rod from the rear of a doner GMC bus and had it shortened about 4" as there isn't enough clearance on the front axle for the new power steering box with the existing straight one. You have to shorten the curved rod to match the length of the straight one. You then have to change the angle gear box to a 1 to 1 ratio or else you have too much play in the steering wheel with the manual 1 to 1 1/2 box on there now. A lot of work but worth it. Bill
