Im still looking for a RV park that will take a ugly unfinished bus conversion http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bigbusguy/detail?.dir=c933&.dnm=9b95.jpg I may put some more primer on before I go. Its not going to be accepected in most camp grounds. I need a cheep Hobo type camp ground near Down town Vancouver WA. Also any walmarts near there? I may stay there for a day or two That will give me a day or so to check out where to stay. I plan to be there about April 5 or 6. Brian 4905 Klamath Falls Oregon |

Brian, Have you contacted either of the two parks listed in the "Places We Stay" section? I haven't checked to see if they are near Vancouver, so you'll want to research that first. Ian www.busnut.com |

I looked there thanks. 99% dont take older then 10 years old or unpainted bus conversions. How about a places we stay for Wal Marts? or other places we can stay over night for free? 99% of walmarts have rv parking but some of the non supercenters that close at night may not be a safe place late at night. My problem no money, ugly looking unfinished bus, No time to paint it. No Idea where to stay when I get there , No bay locks. WOW this is going to be a fun 2 month stay. Brian, Once you get there you'll meet some people that can hook you up with a spot. If your there working the people you work with will hook you up with a spot. Good luck |

Brian - I read this gals log and she parked in troutdale. A short bop down I84 to I205 or I5 depending on where in Vancouver you are headed. It might be within your range. Not much in the text for directions, but you might get lucky too. http://www.maliasrv.com/Pages/OREGON/TroutdaleTimes.htm Alternately, can you park at the rail yards? Looking up the Washington side toward Camas shows: http://phonebook.superpages.com/yellowpages/C-Campgrounds+&+RV+Parks/S-WA/T-Camas/ and http://phonebook.superpages.com/yellowpages/C-Campgrounds+&+RV+Parks/S-WA/T-washougal/ Sorry I don't know a thing about these places. I go up there once in a while for the AMA outdoor Motocross series, but I haven't been looking at parks in the area. I don't think that it is too far from Vancouver. You can also look North up I5. My buddies and I have driven up to Kalama to fish. I see a few RV parks up there and it isn't to far from Vancouver. Here is one that googled up: http://www.kalama.com/~campkalama/ If I am not mistaken this is where we put the boat in: http://www.portofkalama.com/page.asp?view=341 Not going to win a 5 star rating but it looks safe, clean, and the rate isn't bad. I don't think it is too far from Vancouver, but then again I am usually sipping coffee and studying the inside of my eyelids when we go fishing. I am not the best morning guy... Hope this helps, Craig MC7 |

Thanks Craig, The rail road has a no RV parking policy 1 day or 2 ok some times. But its not the best place to park if your to far off the lot, lots of homeless type. Would not want to have my bay doors taken off for scrap aluminin. I hope most walmarts wont notice if Its there and Im not. Brian 4905 Klamath Falls Oregon |

The Walmart in McMinnville always has an RV or two parked in the lot. You might check with them. They are about 30 miles south of Portland. |

Three gallons of Rustoleum, a spray gun from Harbor Freight, and a Saturday of labor would go a long ways towards making your bus presentable. The public campgrounds in Oregon along the Columbia River Gorge aren't expensive and they don't care what your bus looks like. |

"Three gallons of Rustoleum, a spray gun from Harbor Freight" At lesser cost a good enamel roller will do a fine job with the Rustoleum. I just finished sanding off the "Ceramic " paint on the roof , so I could repaint. The rustoleum works better than most , as it can be painted on surfaces up to 200deg. Isn't that hot here in the Land of Bugs & Drugs, but the temp handeling ability is usefull. The roof was HOT!!! to the toch with the "insualated" paint , cool now with 2 coats of white Rustoleum. Enamel rollers are easy to operate,& low cost. FAST FRED |

Thanks for the paint ideas I used some flat inside house wall paint already brushed it on . I will also use rustoloum on the roof . I think it will be just as good as any automotive paint. The days before I was to go I was going to touch it up it was cold and snowing. I did spray paint the wheels and put some of that tire shiny stuff on. My bus looks good from 100 feet away. Can not even tell the windows are painted on Right now its sitting across from the yard office at work in Vancouver WA . So when I make my trip back Im sure they will run me off. SO still looking for a almost free place . The state camgronds are all most $30 a night and have a 2 week stay limit if I remember from last time. But having fun. Almost got 10 mpg with my towed behind running hard all the way. If you see me flag me down or stop by. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bigbusguy/detail?.dir=c933&.dnm=9b95.jpg I will post a updated pic tomorrow. Brian 4905 Vancouver WA |
