Anybody know what final drive ratio is best for a 6V-92TA/ Automatic? My frind is repowering a Newell that had a Cummins 555 in it. We think the ratio needs to be "taller" than what was ideal for the Cummins. Thanks |

Depends on what he is repowering with and what transmission he is using. Our Newell with 11R24.5 tires has a 3.333 final which give 64 mph as 1700 rpm. |

My mci 9 has a 6V92 with a HT740 transmission with 3.73:1 gears with 30% rubber on 1100 x 22.5 tires the bus runs 70 mph by the GPS speedometer With new 1100 X22.5 tires withe 28/32 tread it will run 72mph. I could turn up the engine rpm but, I think that is fast enough for this bus. CLIMBS A 5% GRADE AT 55 MPH AT 31000 LBS. Any taller gears like the 3:33:1 I would loose the pulling power on the hills. |
