Has anyone added a turbo to a 6-71. I have a cracked 2v head and my mechanic says adding a 4v head and turbo will add significant horsepower. With an automatic tranny, a boost in horsepower will be welcome. Are there any problems with such a modification that I need to be aware of. My mechanic is experienced and honest, but I still would like more info. |

turbo can add significant internal heat some pistons are not built to withstand such additional heat |

Hello Gerald: The turbo is a good way to get extra hp from an inline 6-71. I hope your mechanic is not suggesting adding the turbo with out changing the pistons and liners, cam timing, and blower gear tho. It won't work. Mallie |

I turbod my 671 Fantastic proformance. Guys who say you will have a heat problem obviously never did the job correctly. 4 valve head, lowerr comp. ratio cross head pistons, high volume water pump, redo the blower to accept the turbo on and on. There are 1000s of school buses running around with turbo 671s, some under neath the bus laying on it;s side. Go for it it willcost a bunch of money. I bought a used engine and did the job over a 2 year period so the money did.nt hurt to bad. califbob |
