Let me know if you are going to replace the radius rod bushings with the old original rubber, or with the new polyurethane. The poly is much easier to install & holds up much longer. We have both.

I was just up to jack conrads and he showed me the polyurethane ones and that's what I'm gonna use. How much for my bus? all radius rods. how long will it take? 4905

I hooked up the inverter tonight, mounted it and hooked up to batteries and it works. I can see the need for more batteries already. For now I'm gonna add 1 new deep cycle marine battery every week till I have at least 6. eventualy I want to put in real good batteries so you guys can start telling me about batteries and which ones I should go to.

I recommend Lifeline or MK AGM. But that's just my preference. Surette if your going flooded cell. But, you can't buy any of those at WalMart or PepBoys.

I kinda' liked your idea of the trailer and 1127 9V transistor radio batterys. That would be a good excuse to get rid of that junky old harley in the trailer, and get a good rice rocket instead. Cheers...JJ Monday? I've got to stay home and water my cacti monday.

Yo Captain, minor issue here: your batteries should be all the same make/model and IF possible all bought at the same time.

The batteries in the bank will basically be a "chain" which is only as strong as it's weakest link pardon the cliche. Basically the strongest batteries in the bank will "bleed down" to the level of the weakest and the net bank power will be hosed.

In some cases where there's a fair number of batteries, identifying one "lemon" and removing it will *increase* overall bank power. This isn't common but it does happen and it illustrates the issue.

The few weeks difference in buying time you're talking about shouldn't screw you too bad, but you BETTER make sure they're all identical no matter whether you're buying relatively cheap batteries or really good stuff.

Ron,
Marine deep cycle are a compromise battery not really a start or deep cycle so probably not your best choice. Many people have analyzed battery life cycle cost and found that the 6 volt T105 golf cart ends up being the lowest cost overall. The most watt hours/ pound or watt hours/floor area will lead in different directions. I chose 4 ea L16's because I can fit 800 AH in the space I wanted to use. AGM's give the advantage of no maintenence but will cost more and be larger for any capacity. If you're going to use the coach alternator to charge on the road the battery technology should be the same for coach and house ie. all flooded or all AGM. With multiple batterys how you wire your battery bank is important in keeping the load spread evenly to all batterys in the bank. Ideally each battery should 'see' the same length of the same size wire between it and the inverter.
