I have a vibration in the rear of my bus it seems to go away when I steer hard right taking weight off of the right side. I have bad radius rod bushings and a bad motor mount on the front of the motor. the oil pan touchs the cradle. I have new motor mounts for the rear of the motor but not the front round one. I will be replacing all the radius rod bushings next week also the engine mounts. do you think this will cure my vibration?
hope to have my interior pretty much finished this week and start on some mechanichal issues.

Ron, while you are under the bus check the U- joints on the drive shaft as this is a major cause of vibration and if your bus needs those other parts you can be sure they never greased it properly and the U joints get hammered out if not greased. be sure that you block the bus properly as per the book or work over a pit. mel 4104

Ron, I had a vibration that would come & go and a broken cross member on my engine cradle. (from a badly fabricated trailer hitch + a pickup hitting the towed vehicle broadside) When I repaired the cradle, pulling the two rails closer together as they should have been, the vibration went away.

Also check the driveshaft splines. Often they are so worn that they are sloppy which will cause vibes too. While you are under there, see if there is play in the pinion shaft in the differential. (Try to wiggle it up & down & sideways.) That can cause a vibe that is there sometimes & not other times and that often stops when you bring the bus to a stop & unload the drive train. When you start rolling again, the pinion moves a little in or out of proper alignment.

I have an all new drive line ,shaft, u-joints, and the couplers.

What first came to mind to me was rear wheel bearings. Many 4905 owners (and others as well) are shocked to learn that you have to repack with grease and adjust the REAR wheel bearings. Some have been converted over to oil from the differential, but not often. When I got around to mine, they were so sloppy the brakes would not even work to their maximum any more! Better check em anyway.

Also check the u-bolts holding the axle.

If you let the oil pan continue to touch the cross members it will wear through the oil pan in no time at all. The oil pan is not very thick. A fast way to loose an engine when the oil runs out. Bill

I think you should replace the motor mounts, since they are admittedly bad. Then the radius rod bushings, since they are gone also. All the other suggestions, while good and worth following, are of less immediate concern. Just a suggestion and my opinion, but if you are going to drive this rig, I would be a little more concerned with the mechanics than a cabinet in the bathroom. Broken motor mounts and shot bushings in the radius rods are serious problems, not to mention the safety factor involved, both for yourself and anyone with you, but people that have to share the road with you. I know of an MC7 that the engine truss rails were broke on and the engine literally fell out onto the highway. Serious stuff.

I agree with Don/Tx I would check the wheel bearings. When you turn one way or the other and the noise stops or quiets down, quite possible its bearings. You are taking the weight off of one or the other when you do that.

Add my two cents to the rear wheel bearing crowd, that is a classical worn bearing symptom. Kind of far out but it could be front wheel bearings, sounds do weird things in a setup like a bus shell.

Well, WE all assumed that when you first got your bus, that you jacked it up at all four corners & did maintenance on your wheel bearings, brakes & steering, repairing/replacing as needed & adjusting all.

That all got done, right?

By the way, I had to replace 6 of 8 wheel bearings in ours!

first thing I did was put 2 trany's in it. steering was repaired and brakes checked and adjusted. 2 out of 3 aint bad :-)
