Hi folks,

Lots happening right off the top here and I hope the new bulletin board isn't getting away from you! I've enlisted Buswarrior to ably assist in the day to day stuff, such as helping you with the board or your technical issues, as he has done so admirably in the past.

Last night, I installed Tapatalk at the request of Sean Welsh, a long time contributor and friend of busnuts everywhere.

Tapatalk is a smart phone mobile app built specifically for forum access. With millions of Tapatalk users, this forum can be discovered by potential new members thru the Tapatalk Network.

Ace has already uploaded a picture from his iPhone in another thread and the service is available for most all smartphones, including iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android and Chrome systems. Go to your app store to download it or go to the web site at http://www.tapatalk.com/mobile.php, then look up BNO BBS - BNO's Bulletin Board System. You can then see and respond to this forum without having to be sitting in front of your computer!

Enjoy :~)

BNO, EVERYWHERE, ANYTIME?

The "forced" expansion of my technical skills due to the desire to participate in this BNO community is astounding.

No doubt, for some of you, too!

Posting on a BBS circa 1999, typing in a chatroom, both via AOL and dial-up in the beginning, changing software the other times, upgrade to high speed DSL with the phone company, wrote an article, live streaming video production, Facebook, WiFi on steroids in Arcadia, this new BBS board, "The Guy" superpowers,

Now, a smartphone?

Where might we all go with BNO next?

happy coaching!

Thank you I@n!

Posted from my Android using Convo, a free alternative to Tapatalk which uses the same interface.

Sure.  "Convo" is an Android application, available for free from the Android Market.  Just search for Convo, or it will even come up in the list when you search on Tapatalk.  As with many "free" apps on the Android Market, it is ad-supported, so you will see ads scroll by in the bottom 1/4" or so of your screen.  There is a paid upgrade for $1.15 that eliminates the ads and adds a couple features.

It is not as powerful as the $4 Tapatalk app, in that it does not support searching within a forum nor does it support photo uploading.

I plan to switch to Tapatalk if I can get enough of my forums to support it.  I've asked the mods over at BCM to add Tapatalk support there, too, and that would make it worthwhile to me to have the full-featured app.  In the meantime, Convo is good enough to read posts here and post the occasional reply without having to load the full web site, which can be painfully slow on a 1xRTT or even some 3G connections.

I try to read the board on my laptop whenever possible.  Where I see this really coming in handy is to yell for help from the side of the road.  It would have been a real boon to have Tapatalk access to these forums from my phone, for example, when I blew my turbo outside of Albuquerque a couple years ago.  I spent a lot of time going back and forth with a number of helpful people here, and I had to drag the laptop out for every little thing.  Of course, mobile browser support for these sites has also improved a great deal in that time.

On top of that, this will let me post short replies when I am traveling away from the bus; in the past, I more or less stuck to read-only until I was back in front of a laptop.
