It's not a good time of day for photos and since people are just arriving I'll get some photos later. But here are a few snap shots just to show the lay of the land.

Thanks!!! Beautiful day. see ya all! tomorrow.

I had an awesome day. I learned some crap they don't teach you in the book from ray cox on tuning up my rack. 15 min into a conversation with him my valve covers are off, idle screw is out, and our fingers were all dirty and he's showing me "the feel" on my injectors. He's showing me the "Feel this tightness here" like this. He's wiggling it and got me holding it.. it being the injector rack because that could sound kinda dirty, well it was dirty but not that kinda dirty. Oh well im not sure how to say any of this without sounding perverted so excuse me for the train wreck. He Then put a big pair of vice grips on the throttle linkage and they then became a "lever type action" when tighting the injector tube any little movement is compounded out at the end of the lever. Fine tuning and first hand someone telling you and showing you where to stick your finger and moving something for you to feel tension and type of movement is not anything I could learn from a book. I know it sounds stupid but for me it was great. But I love dirty oily hands and playing with tools. I had a great day sitting around talking and got to tour some buses, wrench on some buses, talk to people about freaky little detail solutions they came up with for the tiniest of things for example like a seat footrest latch was modified and repurposed for a totally different use. Made new friends and got to see and talk with "previous friends" <--- didn't want to call them out as being old :) hehe. Anyway I loved it today. It was a perfect bus day for me. It's 1:30am I should go to sleep so I can wake up and have another great day.
-
Oh and one more thing... Is it a requirement that if you own an eagle bus, it must be extremely clean and shine like a gangsta rappers teeth? They are far beyond my definition of perfection on detailing.... All of them I've only been to one rally and it was Blytheville. That was mostly gm's so I have never seen a bunch of eagles together before, but real birds must respect them too because I noticed there isn't any bird crap on em either, and bugs must dodge their windshields. They get 100 bonus respect points in my book for setting the bar higher. I feel like My little bus that was saved from going to a scrapyard is very mad at me for not making it an eagle.

I just quickly walked around with my iPhone and took a few shots to share.

Thanks for the pictures Scott. Keep them comming. Im glad I wasn't able to come with my old bus. I would have been so embarrassed to see my dirty old bus :(
-
9:30 at night and I hear crickets. We are up talking by Bonnie Blue and I don't see anyone else up.
Lance pulled in with a fuel leak in a bay on his 4106. The return line fitting snapped and was leaking on a compression fitting. Good news is we fixed it and once I dropped the panel I found and fixed an air leak in there too.
-
Nice pictures Scott and thanks for the updates! Polished copper! wow. Harleyman i was wondering if you had made it. Dont worry about that kind of stuff, there are all kinds of buses at these gatherings. Mine is usually pretty sad compared to most buses but remember the gospel according to Waylon: It aint how you look, its what you got under the hood." haha. And Scott has a transit and can and does stand proud. Keep those post coming
-
Don't worry if I'm at a rally I win the most f'ed up looking piece of crap award. I graciously accept it with pride and dignity, cuz they should have seen what this damn thing looked like when I bought it. But shitty looking dirty old bus aside not one person Treated me like my bus is anything other than a bus, and if nothing else I make everyone else feel better about their bus... :)
-
This just in.... The wheel has already been invented. Come to a rally and talk to everyone about some of the solutions they came up with to invent all their little wheels. Some of the most ridiculous things we end up spending hours, days or weeks on, someone else has already come up with a solution to. Look, listen, and ask questions. Hell people are not shy about telling you what they screwed up on too. Things that would have made their bus life so much easier if they had just done this or that a little bit different. Learn from their mistakes, learn from their expriences and successes. Even people that have coaches that cost over a million bucks new, still don't have a perfect coach. They will be happy to tell you what should have been done different and why so when you do your build or remodel you can have things better. And even those coaches get upgrades, they are modifying and improving even those coaches. The best time to come is when you just got a bus that needs lots of work. Pictures are great and looking at bus porn on the computer is fun, but actually seeing, touching and getting all up inside someones bus is even better and always has a happy ending.
-
We have been tooling around in a bus for 23 years and to be honest we have seen buses people paid millions to buy to pop-top tent campers. We have never seen anyone that wasn't having fun.
I am intimidated by all the knowledge and skills that can be clearly seen in this group. People that have a bus, regardless of its age or make or condition or cost are going to learn, smile, have fun and be able to put faces with the names seen on these posts.
Right now the only unhappy person is my maid who has to polish the copper pipes.
-
I use vinegar to shine the cooper and a little bee wax to keep it shiny

Scott's buss is unique! that said it is a great bus. I like all buses. We just got back from the rally. Observed Scott helping several computer challenged members with problems and interacting with everyone. so to Scott : everyone a bus nut! Every bus is special. I personally like them all.. I own the one I do because it was the one I got the best deal on at the time, Great time ----was good to see old friends and make new! Scott should be our reporter here ---he does a good job!
-
Well as things are winding down and most everyone will be pulling out, this campground will be a lot quieter tomorrow. Absent will not just be be the sounds of detroits and other bus engines but the even louder and constant sounds of laughter and people having a great time. Everyone here was extremely friendly and The atmosphere was very inviting even to a new comer like me. I met so many new friends, put faces to names on here, saw beautiful buses, learned a lot, laughed a ton, got lots of ideas, ate very well, got dirty working on some buses, the weather was unbelievably perfect and I just had the most wonderful time. I hope everyone has a safe trip home.
-
I just put some of the eyecandy up on the Prevost Community site. We had a great time and it was wonderful meeting the folks at the GABR. I would love to see a combined rally of the Prevost folks and the home builders. It would forever put to rest the stereotypes and prove we are all alike.
-
Jon,I have been around since the moon was the size of a golf ball and I remember back in the late 90's when the airline pilots were cashing out
I knew a bunch of those guys that sold off their high end conversions and starting building their own the guys had sacks full of cash and could buy anything on the market but choose to do their own.
Most did Eagles you can do so much with a Eagle and each one is different and they never look dated like other buses
Now days I would buy and would not even think of doing a conversion it's not worth it, you Prevost guys would need to adjust the rally fee for the tight ass Eagle owners to attend 8)
-
We just arrived home from the rally. I have not been to as many rally's as some, but I think this was probably the best one I have ever attended. Gary, and Gloria went above and beyond on every aspect! We toured the Jack Daniel distillery and had lunch at a great little diner. The next day we toured the Beechcraft museum and had a great lunch there. Our dinner gathering was BBQ one night. Saturday night was a full sit down meal complete with chef, servers, music and desert!! We had about every brand of bus, Eagle, Prevost, GM, Flxible, Neoplan, Freightliner, as well as several factory coaches and campers. Each morning started with fresh donuts, and coffee, with happy hour starting at four P.M. This also included finger foods, and fresh shrimp.
Trouble in progress!!

We had several who just purchased buses that came also. One couple Ron, and Lisa flew to Ca. and drove their 1985 Eagle 10 bus back to FL. As they are the adventurist type they hoped on their Road King and rode 550 miles to join the party. Wayne and Charlene brought their camper. They are working on an eagle 15. We had some that came for the day also. Bob Glines was one. All in all it was ONE FINE PARTY!! Gary announced the last night that he didn't think he could put it on again because of the enormous effort required. That was disappointing to all!! Hopefully some will pitch in and get him back on board!! He was one hell of a great rally master!!!

I made it home safe and sound. The bus ran the best, leaked the least, temp never went over 181, got the best fuel mileage, and just preformed the to the highest level it ever has.
I got over 10 MPG highway, actually slightly more because i really filled the tank getting every drop in I could to get my number. That new rear end will take me a bit to get an exact number average, but this was 97% highway miles. I also ran 30 gallons of free 1 micron filtered and dewatered, used veggie oil mixed in with my diesel on the trip. If i didn't see myself pour it in, I would have not known it was in there by the way it preformed. My total fuel bill for running 730 miles round trip was aprox $115 + or - a couple bucks. Thats factoring in the free veggie of which some is still in the mix since I used less than 2/3 tank round trip, $5 filter cost and discounted diesel fuel prices. I used my Kroger card to save $1 and that allowed me to fill up for $2.51 per gallon with diesel #2 Shelbyville had a Kroger gas station on my path out of town. I couldn't even get the full 35 gallons when I was leaving Shelbyville it was filled to the brim and spewing out. I filled it when I left home but I didn't make it come up to spill out the filler tube. Regardless I got great miledge, cheap fuel, and a free fuel additive to reduce my diesel usage and costs. 366 miles on the way down and I didn't pack the tank full before and I couldn't get a full 34 gallons back in. So I suspect over 11 mpg highway but I want to wait and see the numbers on my average over a few trips. It was a very hilly trip too, so I don't know how that will effect my numbers but I'm putting an asterisk on my chart for lots of hills.
I love my Kroger card for fuel, and a 20-30% summer blend of veggie. I got a new system for my veggie process. It's a very small amount of labor and not messy. Less than one hour of my time to filter and process 30 gallons.
Anyway it was an awesome time, and the bus did great!
-
Why blend Kroger's diesel is a 20% bio diesel anyway here it is 25% for winter
-
It was 38 deg here this morning when I started the bus. No block warmer and it fired on the first millisecond of,me hitting the start button.
