GM 4106 8V71 SPARE PARTS.

What Spare parts do you carry if your full timing.
How do you arrange things such as maintenance, oil changes, transmission maintenance.

I just purchased my bus, working slowly to replace some things, before going full time in a couple of years. Until then I plan to give it weekend runs for a few hrs
to keep everything lubicated. This is in addition to vacation runs.

The most important thing to have aboard is DA Book.

This is the big maint handbook with numerous foldouts and electrical schematatics.

Without it you have no way to know what PM to perform where and when.

Its a couple of pages just for lube , so you probably wont find 1/2 even with a pit to work from.

WE carried a Voltage  regulator as the stock units are crap.

I carry a spare starter as a left hand turn starter is very hard to find. I also carry a blower drive shaft, fuel pump, all filters, extra fuel filter, one front and one rear air bag, because I am running a DDEC engine I carry a spare computer and a spare transmission computer, one of each sensor, and a good selection of tools. Like Fred says Da Book is essential.

Not applicable to most GM, but the rest need to put new belts on, and keep the take offs for "good used spares"

An alternator, depending on how obscure the coach's is.

The fixin's to change a tire, so you have a choice whether to wait for the road service, or rescue yourself.

Headlights and selected bulbs, if you need 24 volt ones.

A collection of hose clamps.

Some thought to plumbing spares, depending on where you are going to hang out?

A  lot of it will depend on how you build your bus. If you use exotic electric and plumbing gadgets, you'll probably never have everything you need. Keep it simple and all you might need is a good hardware store or even Home Depot. Belts, filters, hoses, bulbs, fuses, a bit of wire, string/rope, duct tape, hand tools, sense of humor, pioneering spirit, etc. Good luck.

No body mentioned a good quality Volt/Ohm/AMP meter, and a good spare electrical connector kit. When I drove my 359 coast to coast, flat bedding, I used that more than anything. Another driver/mechanic with my same company, convinced me to rig up a test lead with a 5 amp resettable circuit breaker. Still have that puppy, and I use it all the time for testing open circuits, even works great for Ohm testing, learned a lot about busses driving a truck.
