Private Cruiser or Private Coach Plaque
« on: October 22, 2012, 02:29:41 PM »
Does anyone know who originally made these plaques? ...and do you know of a source or them, or know of someone who has two they would be willing to part with? I'm NOT looking for just any metal "private coach" plaque, I'm specifically interesting in these designs.

The Private Cruiser plaque is found on Custom Coach converted Flxibles (I've already contacted them and they were unable to provide info about the original source for them... I even met in person with Kerwin). The Private Coach version came on a Flxible factory converted coach.

(that second image seems to not always display... it's the same plaque in the same font with different text and a slightly different background pattern)

If I can't find existing ones, then I might have to get them reproduced.

Amazon's hosting servers are down and I think Skitch might be using them for some of their image hosting. Hopefully the image will appear again soon.

I got mine on ebay.  It's been a while, but I think the seller's ID on e-bay was precisionwork.

FWIW

The Prevost ones by the time you pay shipping are about 42.00 each?????

I think I will go have the vinyl ones made. You can get them laser cut if you bring in a pattern for them or just tell how big you want it.
Anybody have any foundry sand and bunch of aluminum can to melt down. So make a wood pattern press it into the sand and pour some. 15.00 each??????

Do you need a "Private Coach" plaque? I have never been asked for it. My bus looks like a motor home with the ACs and vents on the roof. Plus being older, it certainly doesn't look like a commercial bus. I can see if driving a late model like a 102 D, or E, or a J,  being confused for a commercial coach... To me, the less clutter, the better. Less is more.

Good point on the late model bus John. Get you a couple of them FMCA eggs to hang on there, a one time price of 40 bucs  ;D should tell the tale that you are private ;D ;)

Hi Van, that's what I have. I wish I could come to your Dam rally. Maybe next year, which is the year we can start heading South, as our youngest will be done high school. Cheers.

I like the look of those specific plaques and that's the only reason I want a set.
